Friendship Evangelism Is Not Always Good - Online Articles

Friendship Evangelism is believed to be another way of sharing Jesus to other people. Through it, a Christian befriends an unbeliever, win his or her trust, share interests with that person, and then attempts to share about Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation. One problem with this form of evangelism is that many times, the friend does not end up sharing the gospel with his or her friend. Sometimes there is a fear of rejection.

“I believe many Christians practice Friendship Evangelism with sincerity. But sadly, it is a sincerity most often born out of ignorance, an ignorance of the Word of God in general and biblical evangelism in particular. At the same time, I feel no such obligation to extend charity toward authors, pastors, teachers, speakers, and movement leaders who propagate this spiritual fraud upon followers of Christ — both true and false converts. Theirs will be a stricter judgment.” (Read more about this article, click the link above.)

“It’s been said that most people are introduced to Christianity through a friend, and this was, in fact, how I eventually came to visit a church. I had a friend named Bill who invited me for many years before my wife and I finally took him up on the offer. As I was training students at a recent evangelism camp, we talked about the fear that many of us have related to sharing our faith with strangers.” (Read more about this article, click the link above.)

“I have a problem with what has been called “friendship evangelism. The idea of friendship is that you develop and nurture friendships with people in order to eventually proclaim the gospel and evangelize to them. So churches encourage people to get to know their neighbors, connect with their community and also even join local interest groups in order to infiltrate the community, ultimately then tell the gospel, and bring them to church.” (Read more about this article, click the link above.)
